Land Acknowledgement
Safari Mindset Services acknowledges that we are located on unceded and un-surrendered Land of the Algonquin, Anishinaabeg Peoples. We thank the land and water protectors who have continued to care for Turtle Island for millenia. As settlers, we take responsibility to respect and care for the land that shelters and allows us to provide services to people, organizations, and businesses. We recognize and embody the importance of decolonization and take seriously the responsibility of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action related to our personal and professional lives.
Commitment to Decolonization
As an Africentric and wholistic practitioner, Jamila understands the importance of knowing the history of the land we reside in, respecting traditional knowledge and sharing, and working together as a community for collective impact. Jamila started taking history and knowledge sharing courses with Indigenous voices within the first year of her arrival as a migrant settler to Turtle Island. She has continued to learn from knowledge keepers and Indigenous scholars on an annual basis at the minimum. Jamila does not speak for Indigenous Peoples of Turtle Island, but shares referrals to Indigenous consultants and organizations when applicable.
Continuously Learning
I am fully aware that my learning journey is ongoing and I embrace this with humility and dedication. I am committed to listening, learning, and amplifying the voices of Indigenous individuals, Elders, knowledge keepers, and communities. Together, we can work towards a future of mutual respect, reconciliation and healing.
