Hi there, I’m Jamila
It is my pleasure to accompany you on this journey to exploration, discovery, and growth! I will be your biggest cheer-leader as I help hold you accountable in your quest for balance and positive outcomes.
It takes courage for us to look within, identify and unlearn unhelpful behaviours, and relearn sustainable skills. I have over 19 years of experience working within community services and 6 years leading various initiatives in social impact organizations.

A Wholistic Framework
My approaches are grounded in a wholistic framework that sees the importance of all the connecting factors that make us who we are and what have contributed to our experiences. I use an eclectic lens by incorporating various therapeutic modalities as we are all individually unique in our wellbeing exploration, healing and growth journeys. However, I mainly utilize a trauma-informed, healing-centered and Narrative Therapy lens that is strengths-based and solution-focused. As well as incorporating Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) techniques.
As an African descent practitioner, these approaches are grounded in an Africentric paradigm, which is wholistic and community-centered. I learned to connect my ancestral and cultural ways of knowing to my work in organizational change culture and as a therapist. This learning and retrieving of knowledge, known as Sankofa in Swahili, have benefitted my practice and therapeutic work with youth, families, individuals, couples and communities from various backgrounds. A wholistic perspective connects all aspects of our lives and finds the balance within the mind, body, soul, and environment. It is my pleasure to journey alongside you in this relational discovery and growth.
An Advocate, a Consultant, a Therapist
Jamila believes that humans thrive when they have opportunities and are supported, thereby she draws from her ancestral principle of Ubuntu, which emphasizes the importance of community and shared humanity. Jamila utilizes an Africentric paradigm, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and trauma-informed lens while working with individuals, groups and organizations for a more wholistic practice and outcome.
